Volera ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Volera mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App. Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not access or use the App.


1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide Directly

We collect information that you voluntarily provide when using the App:

  • Health & Wellness Goals: Your selected health goal category (e.g., energy, sleep, stress, fertility, immunity, weight, focus, mood, longevity) used to personalize your experience.
  • Supplement Information: Names of supplements you add to your daily stack, including any custom supplements you create. We do not require brand names or dosage information.
  • Daily Check-in Responses: Your answers to daily wellness check-in questions, including mood ratings, energy levels, and other self-reported wellness metrics.
  • Chat Messages: Messages you send to our AI wellness advisor ("Vera"), which are processed to provide personalized wellness guidance.
  • Name (optional): Your first name, if you choose to provide it for a personalized greeting experience.
  • Contact Information: If you use our in-app contact form, your email address and message content.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you use the App, we may automatically collect:

  • Device Information: Device type, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and app version.
  • Usage Data: App interaction data including screens visited, features used, check-in frequency, and supplement tracking activity.
  • Push Notification Tokens: If you enable push notifications, we collect your device push notification token to send you supplement reminders and wellness notifications.

1.3 Apple HealthKit Data

With your explicit permission, the App may access Apple HealthKit data to personalize your wellness insights. We adhere to Apple's HealthKit guidelines:

  • We do NOT use HealthKit data for advertising or marketing purposes.
  • We do NOT sell, share, or disclose HealthKit data to third parties, including advertising platforms, data brokers, or information resellers.
  • We do NOT use HealthKit data to build user profiles for purposes unrelated to health and wellness.
  • HealthKit data is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to our servers or any third-party service.
  • You can revoke HealthKit access at any time through your device's Settings > Privacy & Security > Health.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • Personalization: To customize your wellness experience, including tailored check-in questions, daily insights, and supplement timing recommendations based on your selected health goal.
  • AI Wellness Advisor: To provide responses from Vera, our AI-powered wellness advisor. Your chat messages are sent to OpenAI's API for processing. See Section 3.1 for details.
  • Supplement Tracking: To maintain your supplement schedule, track daily adherence, and calculate streaks.
  • Notifications: To send you supplement reminders and motivational messages at your preferred times.
  • Widgets: To display supplement tracking information on your device's lock screen or home screen (iOS WidgetKit).
  • App Improvement: To understand how users interact with the App and improve our features and user experience.
  • Communication: To respond to your inquiries submitted through the in-app contact form.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:

3.1 Third-Party Service Providers

We use the following third-party services to operate the App:

3.2 Legal Requirements

3.3 Business Transfers

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via a prominent notice within the App of any change in ownership or uses of your personal information.


4. Data Storage and Security

4.1 Local-First Architecture

Volera uses a local-first data architecture. This means:

  • All your wellness data is stored on your device using AsyncStorage (a secure, encrypted local storage mechanism).
  • We do not maintain a centralized database of user data on remote servers.
  • Your supplement logs, check-in history, streak data, and preferences remain on your device.
  • If you uninstall the App, all locally stored data is permanently deleted.

4.2 Data in Transit

When data must be transmitted to third-party services (e.g., chat messages to OpenAI), it is encrypted using industry-standard TLS (Transport Layer Security) encryption.

4.3 Security Measures

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including:

  • Encryption of data in transit (TLS/HTTPS)
  • Local on-device storage with platform-native security
  • API key security and access controls
  • Regular security reviews of third-party integrations

5. Your Privacy Rights

5.1 All Users

Regardless of your location, you have the right to:

  • Access: Request a summary of the data we process about you.
  • Deletion: Delete all your data by using the "Reset All Data" feature in the App's Profile settings, which permanently removes all locally stored information.
  • Opt-Out of Notifications: Disable push notifications at any time through your device settings or the App's reminder settings.
  • Revoke HealthKit Access: Disable HealthKit data sharing through your device's Privacy settings.
  • Withdraw Consent: Stop using the App at any time. Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data.

5.2 European Economic Area (EEA) Residents — GDPR

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

  • Legal Basis for Processing: We process your data based on your consent (which you provide by using the App) and our legitimate interests in providing and improving the App.
  • Right to Rectification: You can correct inaccurate personal data through the App's settings.
  • Right to Data Portability: You may request a copy of your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Right to Restrict Processing: You may request that we limit how we use your data.
  • Right to Object: You may object to our processing of your personal data.
  • Right to Lodge a Complaint: You have the right to file a complaint with your local data protection authority.

5.3 California Residents — CCPA/CPRA

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):

  • Right to Delete: You can request deletion of your personal information.
  • Right to Opt-Out of Sale: We do not sell your personal information. No opt-out is necessary.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
  • Shine the Light: California residents may request information about our disclosure of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes.

6. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or under the age of 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under these ages. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under the applicable age, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

7. Data Retention

  • On-Device Data: Your wellness data (check-ins, supplements, streaks) is stored locally on your device for as long as the App is installed. Uninstalling the App permanently deletes this data.
  • AI Chat Logs: Chat messages sent to OpenAI are subject to OpenAI's data retention policies. We store chat session history locally on your device.
  • Contact Form Data: Contact form submissions are retained only as long as necessary to respond to your inquiry.

8. International Data Transfers

If you are accessing the App from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States where our third-party service providers operate. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of information to countries outside your country of residence, which may have different data protection rules.

For transfers from the EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.


9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the App and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.

Your continued use of the App after the posting of changes constitutes your acceptance of such changes.

11. Apple App Store Additional Disclosures

In compliance with Apple's App Store requirements:

  • App Tracking Transparency: Volera does not track users across apps or websites owned by other companies. We do not use the IDFA (Identifier for Advertisers).
  • App Privacy Nutrition Labels: Our App Privacy details are accurately reflected in our App Store listing and correspond to the data practices described in this Privacy Policy.
  • HealthKit: All HealthKit data usage complies with Apple's HealthKit guidelines. HealthKit data is never used for advertising, is never sold to third parties, and is stored only on the user's device.
